Wednesday I Timothy 3

As I was reading the criteria for a leader in the church, the thing that stuck out to me the most is verse 5 "For if a man cannot manage his own household, how can he take care of God's church?" Pretty straight forward talk! This is a challenge that is set before people and it deals with their everyday life. It doesn't say he has to be perfect in this but he has to be in control of his house. It has to be a home that is being lead in God's way. Under God's authority.
You don't have to be old to be managing your household. I know young couples that manage their homes very well. I believe this is talking about having your authority right. Husband submitting to the Lord and loving his wife/Wife submitting to the husband/children obeying their parents. When these things aren't in place then it is impossible to concentrate on anything else. Your focus gets on the things that aren't right and you can't give yourself to helping others.
I believe this seems to be harder to do because our society teaches contrary to what the Bible teaches in basic home management!! So when people come to the Lord they have to relearn how to manage their home.
Be examples to others - follow what you know is right and others will follow you. Remember, this book was written to a young man who wanted to be a leader!!!
