We can probably all quote verses 7 and 8, but what spoke to me was verse 14 – “You’re nothing but a wisp of fog, catching a brief bit of sun before disappearing.” (Amplified Remix)

I remember driving my children to Lincoln Christian School (which back in those days was out in the country!!!) and seeing the wisps of fog floating just above the farm fields and hugging the ditches and low places of the earth. It’s a very peaceful sight but short-lived, as the fog often times disappears almost as quickly as the sun rises.

James 14 (NLT) says our “life is like the morning fog – it’s here a little while, then it’s gone.” Not only is our life fragile, but the lives of those around us are fragile. So why are we, or why am I,timid about sharing Jesus with those God brings across our path? We don’t know the length of their life, or ours, but we do know that eternity is forever...where will they spend it? We never know when we might be the last person that other person sees or hears. Verse 17 goes on to say, “It is sin to know what you ought to do and then not do it.” Father, forgive us the missed opportunities to share Jesus. Help us to live each day for you so when our life ends, we know we will have fulfilled your plan for our life…and that plan is to give your love, Jesus, to those you bring across our path.
