We are reading chapter 2 in Titus. Paul is again instructing one of his sons in the ministry on how to raise up a church. I love how he focuses on behavior as training. I am reading from the NKJ today and it sounds pretty directive, but you need to get the spirit of these verses, not the law.
Verse 3 says "the older women likewise, that they be reverent in BEHAVIOR, not slanderers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things "- and then on to verse four - "that they admonish the young women to love their husbands, to love their children."
I leave for the Philippines tomorrow with Sharon and we are definitely in the "older" group of women that this verse is talking about. But if we go and try to teach these women we are going to be ministering to without letting our lives exhibit what we are teaching, then our words aren't going to go very far. Now, I know that they won't really get to know us in 4 days, but, whatever we do and however we talk is going to minister to them just as much as what we have to say to them. Your life and mine is a ministry in and of itself.
As we go on in verse 6 there is a lot more that these "older" women are to teach the younger ones. But we have to live it first.
