“Are you hurting? Pray. Do you feel great? Sing. Are you sick? Call the church leaders together to pray and anoint you with oil in the name of the Master. Believing prayer will heal you, and Jesus will put you on your feet. And if you have sinned, you will be forgiven – healed inside and out.” (Verses 13-15 Amplified Remix)
Believing prayer, or the prayer of faith as the NLT reads, is the faith of those praying for the sick person. Isn’t that awesome … when we are going through a sickness and wonder if we have any faith … we can call for the elders of the church and allow their faith to shore up our faith.
This final chapter of James exhorts us to
1. Be patient with each other (vs. 7-11)
2. Let our answers be yes or no (vs. 12)
3. Pray for each other (vs. 13-16)
4. Restore wandering believers (vs. 19-20)
James is a “how-to-book” on Christian living, challenging us to be doers of the Word and not just hearers only. I hope you have been challenged and encouraged as you have read the book of James...a book I, personally, should read often ... like at least once a week!
Let’s continue to keep Pastor Susan and Pastor Sharon in our prayers as they begin their journey home next week. I’m excited to hear all about their time with the pastors’ wives! If it is anything like ministering to the women leaders in Kenya, it’s been an awesome experience!
Have a wonderful weekend and see you all on Sunday!
