Thursday Psalm 139

There are several things that stick out to me that I could comment on but the last few verses in this Psalm are the ones I want to focus on.
After having been in ministry for over 20 years there is one thing I have learned that is something you can't minister without having in your spirit - and that is an open and honest heart toward God and toward people. Being anyone other than yourself just doesn't work when you are trying to touch people and when you are expecting others to follow you. Now you may notice that I didn't say you had to be a perfect person in order to minister - in fact that is when you get into trouble - when you try to make people think you have it all together.
"Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. Point out anything in me that offends you, and lead me along the path of everlasting life."
That is what our attitude has to be - search me, O God - let my heart be an open book before you. Even go so far as to test my anxious thoughts. Point out anything that offends you - not let me get away with anything that isn't of you.
God is so faithful in this area if He is teaching you to be a leader. He comes at you several ways, and it's because He loves you and He wants you to mature and grow in Him. And He uses people and circumstances to bring His purposes about.
"Lord, let my heart always be open to You and thank You for Your faithness to me by NEVER letting me hide from You and for ALWAYS exposing my thoughts when they aren't of You."

Now, what part of this Psalm touched you today???
