Sunday Psalm 96

"Sing a new song to the Lord! Let the whole earth sing to the Lord! Sing to the Lord; praise his name. Each day proclaim the good news that he saves."

Get the point!!!! Sing!!! A song is what gets the Lord's attention and ours. Singing expresses what not other type of communication can. Music is a creation of God's and so powerful and the Lord wants us to use it to worship Him.

Verse 8 - Give to the Lord the glory he deserves! Bring your offering and come into his courts. Worship the Lord in all his holy splendor.....

Giving of your offering is worship to the Lord. When you take the time to worship Him you not only give of yourself in singing but He asks us to give our offering - our money - what we hold dear to us - what we use to live - our resources!!! That is worship. Saying we will do this is only "lip service" but it is in the doing that we show Him our adoration and love.

Today is Sunday - sing your loudest in church - worship with your whole being - give your offering and yourself as we come together to worship. I know this is when I am most encouraged - as we worhip together - your worhsip makes my worship even stronger!!!

I like verse 8 too "bring an offering, and come into His courts." In worship, I think about the offering of praise and what it means sometimes. That "offering" means thanking Him--and offering of thanks. The bible says to enter His courts with thanksgiving. Sometimes that offering sure can feel like a sacrifice, especially when we aren't in the mood, we've had a bad week, maybe things aren't going the way we planned, etc. But, sometimes, at least for me, those are the moments when I just decide to lift my hands anyway and start thanking Him for those things going on b/c He is in charge and I start praising Him for all He is doing in my life b/c He doesn't do anything without purpose. It feels like a sacrifice sometimes when we don't "feel" like it, but I'm sure David and other awesome men and women of God in the bible had that same feeling sometimes just like we all do. Bringing an offering of praise is just bringing all of ourselves into His presence....good, bad, and ugly....and exalting Him over it all and worshipping Him through it and choosing to bring our whole life into His courts. God sees our heart to worship Him despite what's going on around us, and I think those are the moments, at least in my own life, where God really does something amazing in my heart and probably are the moments that most bless Him too.
