This chapter is full of exciting things that were happening to begin the first church of Acts. They were about to experience an explosion like none they had every anticipated!!! All because of a promise that the Lord made when He left this earth - "I will send a comforter....I will send power...You will be My witnesses" and His apostles obeyed the Word and went to wait in the upper room for God to "send" what He promised. I wonder how much faith I would have had and if I would have been one of those who were willing to wait in that room. I wonder if there were any young moms in there or young people or was it just people without other responsibilities who had time on their hands??? I think there was a variety of people in that room - and they all had one thing in common - THEY BELIEVED and were willing to do whatever it took to receive the promise that God had made to them. Only 120 actually made it into that room. Only 120 out of all those people who had watched Jesus die and had seem him go up into heaven - only 120 were willing to be the ones that waited UNTIL they saw the promise fulfilled!!! And they really didn't even know what they were looking for. I can't imagine and I really can't say if I would have been one of the few that were in that room. BUT I know my heart says I want to be - I want to think I am one of those. We are faced with those kinds of decisions all the time and I always pray that I am willing to follow the Lord wherever He takes me and to do whatever He asks of me. That is all he asks of us - believe and obey!!!!
What are you letting get in the way of following the Lord FULLY? Lay it down - shake it off - get rid of the weight and you will see the promise!!!
