Wow, these chapters are power-packed with foundational truths and faith, instruction and encouragement!
The Faith Hall of Fame always encourages me -- there's always an area i'm dealing with that is spoken to each time i read this chapter. I love how it says that Joseph prophesied on his death bed -- flowing in his spiritual gifts right up to the end!
Which one is your favorite?
Verses 13-16 of chapter 11 always serve as great reminders to me that i am an alien on this earth. God certainly made a beautiful temporary home for us on this spinning ball, but i am encouraged again in desiring a "better... heavenly country."
One other passage that spoke to me is chapter 12:3-11 about the discipline of God. Thinking about the neighbor kids around our house, it's plainly obvious that i don't discipline them because they're not my kids. I don't know if their parents discipline them, but i think kids actually want the discipline -- they know their parents care about them, love them enough to take the time to impart direction to their lives.
This passage made me see the value and privilege of Father God's discipline to me, His child. It's not fun or comfortable to be under it, but it is definitely worthwhile and "yielding the peaceable fruit of righteousness."

My favorite is in chapter 12 starting at verse 14 thru 15. I love they way the NLT puts it - Work at living in peace....Work at living a holy life......watch out for others so they won't fall into the trap of bitterness. I think we underestimate how much of our Christian life is up to us to pursue because we think the Lord is just going to snap His finger and "do it" for us because we are "Christians". His promise is that He will be with us - equipping us as we obey Him.
"Lord, help me to keep pressing on in my life to become ALL that You are calling me to be. And give me such a compassion for others that I will be willing to go out of my way to point them in the direction they need to go. Sometimes we can't see it for ourselves and that is why You have given us each other. I pray for boldness and truth to come into my life like never before, but let it be permeated with Your Love and compassion. Thank You Lord!!!"
