This new plan I'm making with Israel
isn't going to be written on paper,
isn't going to be chiseled in stone;
This time "I'm writing out the plan in them,
carving it on the lining of their hearts."
I love this verse (16)! Speaks to me of a God Who wants to be a personal God -- He wants to write His plan, His covenant, His laws directly on my heart: direct communication between Him and me. Love. Purpose. Destiny.
And it's exciting, too, that this new covenant is obviously much more permanent and lasting! Paper and stone can be lost or destroyed. But my heart, my spirit last forever -- and are much more effective in passing on this covenant to others.
Paper and stone ... versus ... heart and mind. Everything about this new covenant speaks to humanity and is full of life -- even the medium God now writes the covenant on! No more lifeless paper or stone! Instead, a living God breathes His living covenant into our living hearts!

A living God and a living covenant, awesome. God knows how I misplace or lose sticky note reminders, so He wrote His new covenant on my heart!!! I don’t think God can get any closer to me. And He gives me access to Him 24/7, through the blood of Jesus. At the mention of the name of Jesus, even a whisper, I am in God’s presence where I can pour out my heart to Him, knowing I am totally accepted and loved. Think about how many Christians go to God in an instant. He knows each one of us personally and each of us has His full attention!
