Mother's Day is coming up this Sunday, and I am already feeling so blessed! My kids sent me flowers and chocolate and had them delivered to the house (apparently they have their own debit cards with money intact AND know how to use the internet!) -- and last night Dustin picked up a flower planter for me to hang on our deck (hopefully it's a magic planter that keeps plants alive even if the owner forgets to water or feed them)!
The timing of Mother's Day and the reading of this chapter ring out their reminders to show appreciation because not only do i have a natural mother, but i also have spiritual mothers - ladies at City Church who are my pastoral leaders.
They all deserve my appreciation!
For me, i think of my own mother - Arlene - and also Pastor Susan because both of these ladies have spoken into my life alot. ALOT alot.
7-8Appreciate your pastoral leaders who gave you the Word of God. Take a good look at the way they live, and let their faithfulness instruct you, as well as their truthfulness. There should be a consistency that runs through us all. For Jesus doesn't change—yesterday, today, tomorrow, he's always totally himself.
They are ... Faithful. Truthful. Consistent.
I am to ...
17Be responsive to your pastoral leaders. Listen to their counsel. They are alert to the condition of your lives and work under the strict supervision of God. Contribute to the joy of their leadership, not its drudgery. Why would you want to make things harder for them?
That phrase: "They are alert to the condition of your lives" --- wow, isn't that the truth? Natural mothers and spiritual mothers/leaders all seem to have eyes in the back of their heads!
AND, take a natural mother who's also a spiritual mother --- and you've got supernatural eyes in the back of her head!
The stories about the ways the mothers in our lives have "been alert" could fill alot of blog space!!
I am very grateful for YOU, Mom ... and for YOU, Pastor Susan ... for your leadership in my life, for all the sacrifices you make, the example you set!
And i'm grateful for ALL you wonderful City Church Women's Ministry Leaders for the ways YOU input into my life, for YOUR faithfulness, truthfulness and consistency!
Have a blessed weekend! And HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!

The natural world said we could not have children. God had other plans! God gave us you, Heather, and then 7 ½ years later, Andrew. You are a beautiful natural and spiritual mother. I am BLESSED beyond words.

Awesome "True Christian Love" list!
Thank you for honoring right along with your mother - I am truly very honored!!! It is said that we are known by our fruit and that is what is so neat about being "grandmother" age. You begin to see the "fruit" of all the labor you did with your own kids. AND your own kids seem to finally see how much work it was because they are having to raise their own kids. I am so glad God is in charge of all of us and He knows just who to put into our lives to bring us to maturity in Him. You don't know it but you are a product of my mother and Jerry's mother and women in my life that helped me be a good mother.
You have a great Mother's Day!!! You are smack in the middle of what Mothering is all about!
Also, thanks so much for posting this week - it was awesome!!!
