Hebrews 5 ~ Friday

"For everyone who partakes only of milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, for he is a babe. But solid food belongs to those who are of full age, that is, those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil." Hebrews 5:13,14

A couple of weeks ago i got a Holy Spirit elbow nudge in relation to this... I had pushed my kids in the stroller to the neighborhood park, and there were several other moms and kids there already.

My breath sorta caught -- partly because i'm way out of the right kind of shape -- but it hit me how much i had become withdrawn from people and from yet-to-believers during the course of the last 10 months. Pregnancy had been hard, yes; and we had moved to a new city, yes.

BUT.

It was like i had gone spiritually cold in desiring to share Jesus, in even desiring to have a conversation with these moms to talk about life in general, to care about them!

I had not been using all of my spiritual senses! It was like, in this area, i had gone from chewing solid food and was heading rapidly backwards to only slurping milk!

It's almost kind of ironic that now that i can't drink physical milk because it might be upsetting my nursing baby's stomach, God is saying, "You shouldn't be drinking milk! Remember this steak you used to chew on and how good it was? Come on back to the grown up table, daughter!"

Praise God for His grace in giving me a chance to try again, as He did last night with our neighbors!

And thank You, Jesus, for being my High Priest Who knows how i felt at that park, but Who also knows how to do it right. (and Who kept me from getting lost on the trek home!)

Have a great weekend!

Sharpening my steak knife,
Heather

I love it. Thanks for sharing and reminding us of those yet-to-believers all around us! Pregnancy and babyhood can be a MAJOR distraction, I will agree. But thank the Lord He is gracious with us and gives us lots of chances to get back on track! Who wants milk when we can have steak??? (or i would like to think about a big red robin burger. but same difference)

This was really good, Heather. I love how the Lord reminds us through our daily circumstances about the things that should be important. You are very open to His voice too. Thanks for sharing this week!!!
