Chapter 10 is the story of how the Gospel was first preached to the Gentiles. It is an awesome example of how God works on ALL sides to orchestrate exactly what He is wanting to do. BUT He used willing people and those who are praying and seeking Him. Both Peter and Cornelius heard His voice while they were praying - and they were both men of prayer. In fact, my translation says Cornelius "prayed regularly" vs 2. And they obeyed God IMMEDIATELY! Just think how this might have happened in our day with technology as it is. Communication could have been done on the phone or on Face Book!!! I wonder if we sometimes let technology take the place of the person touch???!!!! Just a question. I do think it is all in how we use the technology we have. Just like this blog - it is only as effective to others as others take advantage of it. But it is always effective to the one who is doing the posting!
I just love how the Holy Spirit fell on the house of Cornelius as Peter was telling them the story of Jesus. They must have been people of prayer too and had ready hearts to receive what the Lord had for them.
Thank the Lord for Peter and Cornelius!! They paved the way for the rest of us Gentiles!!!
