Philippians 4

Some of the first scriptures we memorize as a new Christian are verse 4, “Rejoice in the Lord always, and again I say rejoice,” and verse 6, “Let your requests be made known to God.” However, verse 8 is equally vital to our walk with the Lord. “…fix your thoughts on what is true and honorable and right. Think about things that are pure and lovely and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.”

Are we rejoicing in the Lord? Listen to our mouths. Are we worrying? Listen to our mouths. Are we letting God or man know our needs? Listen to our mouths. What we continually think about and see with our eyes and hear with our ears goes into our heart and will come out in our actions and in our words. If our thoughts do not line up with the Word of God, then we need to do 2 Cor. 10:5 – “Casting down imaginations and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.”

Father, let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer. (Psalm 19:14)
