Monday I Timothy 1

You may notice that this post is at 4:30pm instead of 4:00am. I don't know what happened but I totally forgot to post for today. Soooo, better late than never.

Timothy, first and second, isn't written by Timothy but to him. We can learn a lot as we read these books about leading people. Timothy had a heart for God and Paul, his mentor, recognized it and began to mentor him in what God would have him do. Timothy looked to Paul and followed him and honored him as he learned from him.

I just said goodbye to Kirsten this morning! Many of you know that Kirsten and Isaac came to our church 3 1/2 years ago to be a part of our Team of Leaders. God is now directing their steps to go back West and take a leadership position in a church. This is the second couple Jerry and I have had the privilege to strengthen and encourage as Paul did Timothy. What an honor it is to see this couple go from you to do great things for the Lord, knowing you are going to be a big part of what they do because of the part you have played in their lives in the last few years. Paul was a generation older than Timothy and was able to show him things and caution him in things just because of his life experience. I love being able to let go of people and see them succeed in what God has for them, wherever it may be, not holding on to them, but releasing them to do God's will. We parted by saying "Make us proud of you!!!"

Just like Paul in the last part of chapter says to Timothy, "Cling to your faith, Timothy, remember the prophecy over you, keep your conscience clear......" We have the ability to realease people to God's will and encourage them to do even better than us. All of us should have someone we are mentoring - as each stage of our lives - and then releasing them as they grow in Him.

God bless you, Kirsten and Isaac. We will pray for you and love you and expect GREAT things from you!!!
