Philippians 1:20-30

We are all familiar with Paul being torn between living or dying and going home to be with the Lord. But I love verse 20, “For I live in eager expectation and hope that I will never do anything that causes me shame, but that I will always be bold for Christ, as I have been in the past and that my life will always honor Christ, whether I live or I die.” What an awesome prayer this verse makes – that we not be timid to speak for Christ and that our life will always honor Christ, in living and in death.

Paul lived to serve others and to tell others about Christ. Are we? When is the last time we led someone in the prayer of salvation? Are we looking for who we can serve? Or are we waiting to be served? Are we providing for our own needs? Or are we asking God to use us to meet the needs of others? Are we ready to devote our life to what really counts ... bringing others into the kingdom of God? Or are we just going through the motions of living? I don’t know about you, but I don’t want to just exist, to just go through the motions of living. I want God to use me. I want to do His plan and purpose for my life, not my plans for my life!
