Proverbs 30

Good morning to you all. Some of you may already be on the road to work or have been up for hours with your kids. Hope you enjoyed reading this Proverbs and wrote down something to comment on later in the day. I was reading Kirsten's comment from yesterday and loved the part about having lots of faith but not mixing it with wisdom. That is so true, and know people get confused about that. Is just stepping out and doing something even though it doesn't appear to be very wise having GREAT FAITH???? I believe that MOST of the time our faith is a "walk" - one step at a time - and it is mixed with the wisdom of the scripture and the wisdom and council of other Christians in our life. BUT there are those times when God speaks a Word - a Rhema Word (one that is for right now) - and we have to take the next step in our walk by "faith", believing that He is in control. But even though that step may look unwise to some, there will still be those people and the Word of God that will make that step sure and stable enough for you to "walk by faith not by sight" 2Cor 5:7. I love Galatians chapter 5:7-26 - Walking in the spirit vs walking in the flesh - but that is another study!!!
Chapter 30 of Proverbs is believed to have been written by someone other than Solomon - but in the same style and the same wisdom as Solomon. What stood out to me is the comparisons he made with nature and the wonders we see every day. Life is full of things we can't explain but if we know God, He shows us and speaks to us in the wisdom of all He created!
Have a great day - tomorrow completes Proverbs. We will take Sunday off but I will post a schedule for reading some of the great Psalms beginning on Monday!

Yes, I am one of those that has been up for hours. :) I feel like my day is already 1/2 over! I guess that is life with young children. At least I'm filled up though with God this morning. That makes my day so much better.

I totally agree about faith and wisdom that you commented on, Pastor Susan. Sometimes we get a Rhema that really seems unwise in the natural, but we need to obey God anyway and walk in the supernatural....and even a confirmation can be some opposition, but God will eventually speak to our wise counsel even if it takes a while for them to see God in it, and He eventually lets the truth come out that it was in fact Him! Time always tells. That is good.

Speaking of that, verse 5 spoke to me this morning. "Every word of God is pure; He is a shield to those who put their trust in Him." Sometimes I just read the logos until I get a rhema for the day, and His word is always pure. It never leads me down a wrong path, it never justifies wrong decisions, it never gives any allowance for a bad attitude, and it is totally capable of washing my mind from yesterday. I love that when I trust in Him that He is a shield around me, protecting me, keeping me safe, helping me to operate within the boundaries that He has set up for me in His word as I listen to Him. When we live this way, we aren't living like bumper cars just crashing wherever life and circumstance takes us, we are instead led with a the Holy Spirit as our perfect guide (or even like a map to a treasure chest like in the movies...He lays it out for us to fulfill our purpose in life). His word is pure and perfect and has an answer for every circumstance or decision in our life and we can rest our whole life on it.

There are several other verses that spoke to me today too....so much wisdom, but I'll let someone else comment on those b/c I always write too much as it is!!!

Verses 3-4 say: "I see no evidence of a holy God. Has anyone ever seen Anyone climb into Heaven and take charge? grab the winds and control them? gather the rains in his bucket? stake out the ends of the earth? Just tell me his name, tell me the names of his sons. Come on now—tell me!"

That part about "tell me the names of his sons," made me stop and think. Why would they ask for that information? After all the O.T. reading we all did last year, reading geneology after geneology, it seems to me that knowing the sons (children) is one way to identify the father. Having sons/kids was a super important part of life and personal, familial identification (and still is). People can know something about you via your kids. Whoa, that's a scary thought, makes me want to raise my kids up correctly even more!

But those verses 3-4 strike such a clear chord with today's culture and ways of thinking - "if i can't see it, how do i know it's there. Who is this God?" While their eyes and ears may be closed to the truth of God and His creative work, their eyes can certainly see us - His "sons" - and thru the grace of God, by seeing us, they can see HIM.

Just another reminder to me today of being a living witness of God's Kingdom in my sphere of influence. Why Not?!
