Here is a basic outline of chapter 2 in Proverbs.
How to Seek Wisdom?
vs 1 Receive the Word and treasure His commands.
vs 2 Concentrate on understanding (tune your ears).
vs 3 Pray for wisdom.
vs 4 Search the Word.
vs 5 Fear God and gain knowledge.
vs 6-10 Remember the Lord grants wisdom, knowledge and understanding.
a. He grants common sense to the honest.
b. He protects the faithful.
c. Then you will understand what is right, just and fair and know how to find the
course of action.
d. Wisdom is a heart issue and knowledge can be pleasant (not torment).
vs 11 Discretion and understanding shall preserve you, keep you safe......
vs 12-15 ....from evil people who....
a. Speak perverse things
b. Forsake truth to walk in darkness
c. Rejoice to do evil and delight in perverseness
d. Crooked and wrong in their ways
vs 16-19 Wisdom will save you from the "Spirit of the Immoral Woman".
a. flattering words
b. forsakes her husband
c. ignores her covenant
d. her house leads to death and hell
e. those who visit her are doomed and will never teach the path of life
vs 20 Follow the steps of good men and keep on the path of righteousness.
vs 21 Maintain integrity, blameless people shall remain in the land.
vs 22 The wicked shall be removed and destroyed.
One verse that stuck out to me was vs 7 - "He grants a treasure of common sense to the honest." Common sense is a wonderful thing. It is something to ask for, something that you can go a long way with. It makes you look a whole lot smarter than you actually are and gets you out of a whole lot of situations that other people - who lack common sense - walk right in to without seeing the potential for disaster. It truly is a "treasure" to have in your pocket!! Thank you Lord for common sense - wisdom - and keeping me out of trouble in 2009.
Here are a couple of questions to ask yourself to seal this chapter in your heart......
1. According to Prov 2, how do you gain wisdom?
2. How does wisdom save you from the "Spirit of the Immoral Woman"?
3. How do you stay on the path of righteousness?

I think that to gain wisdom, like verse 2 says, you have to APPLY your heart to understanding and TUNE your ear to wisdom. This always reminds me to be active when I'm reading the word. Not just read it, but be applying and tuning my ear! It is easy to stray from the path of righteousness when we are not applying the word and really tuning in as we read. Even if we are reading our Bibles daily! Happy new year girls! Happy birthday, Luka!
I am always amazed at how the Lord puts the path in sight but we are the ones that have to walk it and choose it. I believe wisdom in our lives helps us choose the right way. We see it as the thing to do and the way to be and confusion disappears. Wise people seem calmer and more settled than those that are foolish and doing things their own way. Lord give me wisdom - Let it be more and more evident in my life in 2009!
