This was good today, but my favorite verse today was verse 23. In the Amplified Bible it says "the reverent, worshipful fear of the Lord leads to life, and he who has it rests satisfied." I love this verse. Fear of the Lord leads to life....and if I walk in reverent, worshipful fear of the Lord I will rest satisfied. I was thinking about all the things we can pick to fill us up, but so few things really leave us satisfied. It's kind of like food. We don't eat many sweets around our house, but when we do, it is so easy to fill up on them, but afterward, it just doesn't leave me satisfied. There is something so satisfying for me about eating a yummy green salad with tons of greens, a few walnuts, a few dried cranberries, a little avocado, a little chicken, and drizzled with flax oil and vinegar. I love it. It totally satisfies my hunger every time....and it is something I can feel good about. Eating a chocolate bar just doesn't leave me feeling good about my choice, nor does it leave me feeling satisfied. I was thinking about the feeling after spending time in the word, praying, and even the feeling after making a good decision that I know the Lord has led me in. It always leaves me feeling so satisified. It's kind of like the choice between watching the morning news, a morning talk show, or using that time to spend in the presence of God. Not that the news isn't bad, or that tv is bad, but it doesn't satisfy my soul the way spending time in the presence of God does. I love the verse that "worshipful fear of the Lord leads to life"...and that it satisfies. Worship is so much more than the songs we sing and the words on the overhead. It is our lifestyle. It is how we choose to walk, think, say, etc, on a day by day basis. It is that thoughtful choice to glorify God on a moment by moment basis. Fear of the Lord is literally knowing that God sees it all....the good, the bad, and the ugly. When we walk in the fear of God, our moment by moment living takes on a whole new meaning. I love that walking in worshipful fear of the Lord will leave me satisfied. The decisions I make, choices I make, how I spend my time, how I parent my children, how I love my husband, etc, always leaves me satisfied when I do it with a heart walking in worshipful fear of the Lord. My heart rests satisfied, knowing that I've pleased the Lord. It is so different when I make choices in the moment and then feel the guilt of needing to ask forgiveness for snapping in frustration at my kids, disrespecting my husband, or letting that comment come out of my mouth that really would have been better unspoken (and unthought!). It is really true....walking in worshipful fear of the Lord lets my heart rest in satisfaction and victory that I have pleased Him. That verse goes on to say that "he cannot be visited by evil". Another benefit of walking in worshipful fear of the Lord is more than just a satisfied soul, but also a protection from the enemy! That is good and really encouraged me today to remember to walk in worshipful fear of the Lord and I'll have a satisfied heart that can just rest in Him (no matter how busy I am!!)
What did the Lord speak to you today?

Two verses struck me - by the way, thank you Kirsten for posting this week!!! - 20 & 21. "Get all the advice and instruction you can, so you will be wise the rest of your life. You can make many plans, but the Lord's purpose will prevail." Getting instruction and advice NEVER ends because you think you know it all. It is something you have to keep in mind that you need from others the rest of your life. That is how you get all the wisdom you have!!! And the last one is something you learn the hard way, usually. All the plans you make can change in an instant when God steps in to keep His purpose. When you know your life is in His hands then that is ok with you, but when you don't have that mindset, that He is in contol of your life, then when things don't go your way it disturbs you. God has His plan for your life and it is full of purpose!!!
Susan, verse 21 also caught my attention... the Message Bible says, "We humans keep brainstorming options and plans, but God's purpose prevails." I can picture God sitting in heaven a little amused at us trying to figure out our options...or maybe with sadness in His heart waiting for us to simply ask and trust Him to reveal His plan and purpose for our lives ... in every area and circumstance.
