Proverbs 10

Chapter 10-22 of Probers is full of contrasts. You will be able to see in each verse a right and a wrong and a result for each one. for example, in vs 1 of chapter 10 -
"A wise child brings joy to the father, a foolish child brings grief to a mother." As you read thru these chapters it's hard to take in every one of them, so just share a couple of them as you comment. I am going to try to commit at least one from each chapter to memory. As we share together we will encourage each other with what God is showing us.

I picked out the verses that addressed "lazy people". It seems pretty important to God to NOT be lazy. vs 4 - Lazy people are soon poor, hard workers get rich.
vs 26 - Lazy people irritate their employers, like vinegar to the teeth or smoke in the eyes. (there is no right in this verse - just wrong).
Lazyness is a sickness. Sometimes you have to reach deep inside yourself to be motivated to work hard. I believe it is something you teach children at a young age. You have to find what motivates you to work hard and stick to it. Finishing something motivates me - short goals keep me going.

Which verses spoke to you?

I definitely like the lazy verses too....definitely a them. Must be important to be hard workers! I also see righteous living as a them and the rewards of righteous living.

verse 3--The Lord will not allow the righteous soul to famish, but He casts away the desire of the wicked. He will not allow my soul tp famish. He gives me lasting security, hope, joy, love. No matter what I go through, He will keep my soul fulfilled, He is the desire of my heart.

verse 6--"Blessings are on the head of the righteous..." --I'm blessed by living righteously

verse 7--"The memory of the righteous is blessed..."I don't need to live with regret and I can leave a legacy of faith and righteousness.

verse 9--"He who walks with integrity walks security, but He who perverts his ways will become known." I LOVE this verse even though it isn't necessarily about righteousness. Integrity is being the same in secret and public. It is our character--what is on the inside when know one is looking. When we walk in integrity, we don't have to live with regret, second thoughts or insecurities. But, if we don't walk in integrity, we will eventually be found out.

verse 11--"the mouth of the righteous is a well of life..."--we feed others, water others, encourage others, etc. etc.

verse 16--"the labor of the righteous leads to life..." laboring in Kingdom is a joy and brings us life and brings life to others. Our reward for sin is death to different areas of our life.

verse 20--"tongue of righteous is choice silver..." What we say is valued.

verse 24--"the desire of the righteous will be granted...." I like that one!! god will fulfill the desires of my heart.

verse 25 "...But the righteous has an everlasting foundation." We are building a firm foundation in our life through righteousness and it is everlasting. We have a legacy that goes beyond this life only.

verse 26--"Hope of the righteous will be gladness..." We can be glad and hope in Him no matter our circumstances. We have a wonderful hope!

Verse 30--"The righteous will never be removed..." We have eternity to look forward too.

These are all great benefits of righteousness and righteous living.
