Today is a special day to me - it is my first grandchild's birthday - Judah is 5 today!!! Time has flown by - soon he will be 25!!!
I have several verses underlined and highlighted in this chapter but the first one has been made real to me in many ways. "A wise woman build her home, but a foolish woman tears it down with her own hands." When you read that you wonder how anyone would want to tear down their own home or what could make them so blind as to not even realize they are tearing it down. I believe one way we participate in this not even realizing it is how we speak about our children and our spouses. A woman's tongue can be cutting and sharp and cut without thinking. It is something we have to guard at all times. I can remember catching myself criticizing my husband and actually see my words tear him apart and begin to tear down my "house" without realizing the effect I was having. Without the Lord in my life I probably wouldn't have even seen what I was doing. But this scripture just kind of hit me one day and I began to see how powerful I was in the tearing down of something I loved.
BUT at the same time I saw how powerful my tongue could be in building up my home and my spouse. I mean I could actually strengthen the very walls of my home by my words and my attitude. The tearing down is easy, the building up takes thought and purpose. I began to be purposeful about building up my children and my husband and the difference was amazing. It really is true - "A wise woman builds her house...."
Try it!!!
Also, vs 10 goes hand in hand with vs 1 - "A peaceful heart leads to a healthy body, jealousy is like cancer in the bones." Once it begins it is hard to get rid of but jealousy can literally destroy your peace. It may start small but it grows until it totally destroys. Let peace reign in your heart.
Which verses did you underline???
