Wrestling with God

I am using youversion.com to read through the Bible and I read someone's comment about 32:25. When Jacob wrestled with God. I loved it and wanted to share it with you. It was especially challenging for me during this season of fasting and prayer.

"Deep, passionate, and desperate prayer is like Jacob's wrestling match with God. It is a level of prayer that I have never reached - holding on to God the whole night through, holding on until I am blessed. It feels like a fight because, indeed, prayer is where the spiritual battles take place. The longer we pray, the closer we get to God's desires. Our own pride, selfishness, ambitions, and logic are stripped away and we are left only with an overwhelming desire to be blessed by God. Indeed Jacob won this wrestling match, but the outcome was exactly what God desired. Ask and you shall receive, knock and the door shall be open, seek and you shall find. God truly wants bless us. But we have to want it too. It has to be worth the limp."

I want desperately to see many people come to know the Lord this year in our church. I want to make a personal impact on this city and the world for Christ. I want the Kids ministry of LCC to grow with kids who need and are finding God. I want to see young and old people finding God for the first and second times in our church this year EVERY WEEK and in between. I also want more than anything to see children who have no parents finding Jesus as their Father and Savior.

But just how passionate am I about these things?

None can be done by alone. All are the desire of God.

Ah, but we have prayer.

Lord, teach me to fight the spiritual battle in prayer like never before! How much more productive that is than trying to do anything on my own!!
