Some things interesting

I found a couple of things very interesting in today's reading. Maybe they were just for me from God today, but I thought I'd share in case they might be for someone else, too!

The cool thing lately about the reading schedule is that each day we have seen God tell Abraham that he was going to be the father of many nations. The last 3 or 4 days God has told Abraham this in different ways. It made me want to pull out old prophesies I have had over my life and journals where I have written what God is telling me. What is God saying to me over and over?? But it is encouraging that even a man of great faith like Abraham was not told just once!

On a side note, I wonder if he talked with Sarah much about what the Lord was telling Him. Because the first time we see Sarah hearing about it, is the time she overhears it from the "strangers" and laughs. Do you think she had heard this before from her husband???? Actually, now that I think about it, she probably had heard it before because she gave her servant Hagar to Abraham to try and solve the problem. Maybe she believed at first and had now given up. I don't know. Just was interesting to me.

I loved, loved, loved yesterday and today's Matthew readings. I am reading from the MESSAGE Bible this time and it was so cool and fresh. Wow, that sounded totally 80's. =)

This description today about prayer was very real and down to earth --- Just get a quite place with God. It will become more about God than you. And then you will experience grace!!

Also, the last verse was my favorite. 6:34 "Give your entire attention to what God is doing right now, and don't get worked up about what may or may not happen tomorrow. God will help you deal with whatever hard things come up when the time comes." Sometimes it is hard to focus on what God is doing RIGHT NOW. Especially when things don't seem to be going the way we want them to go. But God IS doing something through our individual situations... in our church... in our country. That was a good reminder of where to put my focus today.

Hope you are staying warm!

I think we should all memorize Matt 6!!! If we really believed what that book says we would never worry about anything.
What I noticed about Sarah (Abrham's Sarah) was that even though she doubted what God told her she still received the promise. God didn't decide to withold from her just because it was too great for her to comprehend!
God's promise is His promise and HE WILL FULFILL IT!!!
