Hi, y'all,
Normally, reading from some of the first 5 books of the Bible can be boring, or rather I should say tedious. But reading Number 3 and 4 this morning, I come away awed by the God of order. All the children of the sons of Levi had specific areas of responsibility in the tabernacle. All the men from 30 to 50 did their daily work, settled in their specific place when the stayed for a few days, and carried their specific articles when they moved. No one had to wonder what his work was, it was plainly told him.
Now this might seem tedious to you, but to me, life has to have some order or we don't accomplish what needs to be done. Order doesn't have to be boring, it just has to have meaning. If our life in Christ is here and there, sometimes this, sometimes that, doing what I want to do when I want to do it, we don't really accomplish much. God wants our lives to have purpose and meaning, along with the joy of accomplishing His will for us. I know that different times of our life are different from others. When our children were small, I knew I had to be there, helping them, teaching them, etc. When they had grown, our life changed, and we could center totally on pastoring a brand new church. Then came the time when we ministered throughout Eastern Europe, helping churches who had been under Communism. Then came King's Kids Village - something alltogether new and different. But, there was always order - working at what our calling was at the time. Now we rest, to a great extent, mostly because of health, but our life still has order - God's order.
Have a great day, and be blessed.
Eleanor
