Pigs in Our Life?
According to a footnote in my bible, Gerasenes was a Gentile region (thus the presence of the pigs), and that those keeping the pigs wanted Jesus to leave because they did not want him to keep destroying their source of income and security! They were willing to give up Jesus instead!
That's where we all were before we asked Jesus to be our Savior and Lord. But I wonder, are there still “pigs” in my life that I prefer over Jesus? That is my source of security . . . keeping me in chains and shackles . . . keeping me from walking in God’s plan and purpose for my life?
The man wanted to go with Jesus, but he was told, “No, go home to your friends and tell them what wonderful things the Lord has done for you and how merciful he has been.”
Father, daily give me an opportunity in the harvest field to tell someone what You have done for me . . . to tell that person about Your love and great grace . . . about Jesus!
