“Oh, that we might know the Lord! Let us press on to know him. He will respond to us as surely as the arrival of dawn or the coming of rains in early spring.” Hosea 6:3 NLT
The busyness of life has a way of trying to usurp priorities. None of us are immune. It happens to each of us in every season / circumstance of our lives.
Growing up, church attendance was not an option; and I will be forever thankful for that discipline instilled in my life at a very young age. I “knew” of Jesus. But “knowing” Him did not begin until March 25, 1976.
The question I ask myself now is am I pressing on to know Him?
I still remember how thirsty I was as a new believer to “know” Him. I could not get enough of the Word, of listening to teaching tapes, attending Bible studies and meetings. Wherever the Word was being taught, I was there to be fed.
With age and cold weather, my skin has become dry and thirsty. I can almost see my skin drink in moisture. Has my spirit continued to be thirsty to “know” the Lord as I have “aged” spiritually?
So I ask myself these questions . . . “Self, are you still thirsty to know Jesus? Do you know Jesus better now than when you first met him on March 25, 1976 . . . or have you gotten stuck somewhere along the way?”
Run the race, Arlene! Keep on keeping on. Press on toward the prize.
The sun is always shining and dawn always arrives right on time in every time zone! Just as surely as the arrival of dawn, God will respond . . . right on time!
“Oh that Arlene might know the Lord! Let Arlene press on to know Him. He will respond to Arlene as surely as the arrival of dawn or the coming of rains in early spring!” Hosea 6:3 Hiatt Translation!

The love that God has for people is so overwhelmingly clear in Hosea, that really spoke to me today from chapters 1-3. What a merciful loving God! And so incredible that He is as faithful as the sunrise - great observation Mom =)
Two verses . . .
"But then I will win her back once again. I will lead her out into the desert and speak tenderly to her there." Hosea 2:14
What an example of how we should be pursuing backsliders!
"I will make you my wife forever, showing you righteousness and justice, unfailing love and compassion. I will be faithful to you and make you mine, and you will finally know me as Lord" Hosea 2:19-20
So thankful God does not withhold His unfailing love, compassion, and faithfulness!
