Today we are reading chapters 13 and 14 in John. This begins the last days of Jesus' life on earth. These chapters really show us the relationship he had with his disciples. He warns them, prepares them, says goodbye to them, gives them hope for their future.....all of this in words that didn't make much sense to them at the time but when they looked back they realized what Jesus was telling them.
As I read these chapters I see a friend and teacher preparing his students and friends for what is about to happen to their lives. Drastic changes are about to take place with how they will live. He loved them so much that he took the time to prepare them in every way he could.
I wonder if I would have understood what Jesus was telling me? It's a lot like today. Jesus is always preparing us for the days ahead....he knows what is coming and how it will affect us.
All we have to do is trust him and believe he is in control of our lives. Everything we need he provides.
Trust in him today....for this moment...for the next hour....for the week. He knows what's ahead!

It's so exciting and encouraging to know how much is possible for the days ahead -- because of Jesus' death and resurrection! ... the greater works that can be done (14:12), including salvation, ... and the presence of the Holy Spirit (14:16,26)!
It just hit me today how simply amazing it is the many miraculous things that were done when Jesus was on earth have and will be multiplied and increased once He obeyed the Father by dying, rising from the dead and ascending into Heaven! I stand in awe of the love God has for mankind, for the power He has available for His Church!
If you DO . . . you WILL . . .
I have given you an example to follow . . . DO as I have done to you. (13:15)
You know these things – now DO them! That is the path of blessing. (13:17)
YOUR love for one another . . . will PROVE to the world that you are my disciples. (13:35)
Anyone who BELIEVES in me . . . will DO the same works I have done, and even greater works. (14:12)
If you LOVE me . . . OBEY my commandments. (14:15)
Those who OBEY my commandments . . . ARE the ones who love me. (14:21)
I have told you these things before they happen . . . so you will BELIEVE when they do happen. (14:29)
But DO i? AM i?
