"Remember those early days after you first saw the light? ... If some friends went to prison, you stuck by them. If some enemies broke in and seized your goods, you let them go with a smile, knowing they couldn't touch your real treasure...
"Nothing they did bothered you, nothing set you back. So don't throw it all away now. You were sure of yourselves then. It's still a sure thing! But you need to stick it out, staying with God's plan so you'll be there for the promised completion." Hebrews 10:32-39 (Message)
I'm finding -- well, i've always known, but now there are more people and things and responsibilities and opportunities in the life God has set before me, so it seems more glaringly obvious -- but i'm really discovering how easy it is to slip right away from that sureity.
You know, the sureity of a new believer in Christ... the fresh and boiling hot and unshakeable, full-of-confidence sureity of who I am in Christ, of the freedoms and power and faith He so freely hands to me when i hand Him my heart.
I was sure of myself then, of my identity and position with Jesus Christ. And as the days unroll and their challenges and blessings stockpile into years, and the years melt together into well-worn decades, it can become harder to keep a firm grasp on that sureity. Until all that's left on the corner of that sureity is the very tip of my little pinkie finger.
But the Word of God declares:
"Don't throw it all away now. .... It's still a sure thing! ... Stick it out, staying with God's plan...."
So even if my family members are fighting sickness, I will be SURE of who i am in Christ and of what i can claim in FAITH from Him according to His plan!
If my relationship with my friend or my spouse is struggling to survive, I will stick it out! I will be SURE, walking with endurance in God's will for my life!
If i feel like i've failed again or could have made better decisions or the finances are pinching me more than dear 'ol Auntie ever did, i WILL be SURE!
And we will receive the promise!

Life, with all it's demands, would usurp who God is and His promises and of who we are in Him. Boldy entering into and dwelling in God's very presence and His Word, we see clearly who we are . . . again and again and again!
Great post, Heather!
P.S. I keep forgetting to tell you that I like the new blog design! Thanks!
Amen to being in God's presence and His Word! The best place to be! =)
