Focusing My Faith

In today's read, Colossians 2:15 says that God "stripped all the spiritual tyrants in the universe of their sham authority at the Cross and marched them naked through the streets."

That verse revealed such relief to me this morning!  Why do i spend all my efforts -- why do i sometimes feel like i'm focusing my fight of faith on those spiritual tyrants that God has already defeated?!  So, sickness tries to take a whack at me.  Or fear.  Or sin.  Or lack.

"No," i shrug off that spiritual tyrant.  Sometimes i have to really shrug until it feels like my head is gonna come loose, but shrug i do.  And instead of fighting that THING that God has already defeated, i lift my foot and bring it down authoritatively on the head of that little tyrant and place my footstep right inside of the one God left there thousands of years ago.

Now, instead of battling that DEFEATED spiritual tyrant -- which has no power anyway because it's already defeated --- i take my focus, i pick up my faith and swing it around to the promises of God.  And i focus my thoughts, my emotions, my words on those words of God that He has promised to fulfill in my life.

No more attention to some silly little defeated thing.

All attention and faith and praise to the All-Powerful God.
