What He Requires

“The Lord has already told you what is good,
and this is what he requires:
to do what is right,
to love mercy,
and to walk humbly with your God.”

Micah 6:8

Do what is right . . .
live “right” in my home and workplace . . . respond right to wrong behavior

Love mercy . . .
passionate concern that those who cannot speak up for themselves receive justice

Walk humbly with God . . .
esteem others as better than myself . . . look out for others’ interests before my own

How?

“Don’t be selfish; don’t live to make a good impression on others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourself. Don’t think only about your own affairs, but be interested in others, too, and what they are doing.” (Phil. 2:3-4)

We are well able to do what He requires . . . the Holy Spirit empowers us to do what we are powerless to do in ourselves!
