Still on CHOOSE!

Let's talk a little more - Why does God allow us a choice? I know many people who ask this question. Why doesn't He just make us choose the right way instead of giving us a choice to choose the wrong way? Doesn't He want us to do what is right? Doesn't He want everyone to go to heaven instead of hell?....................................What do you think?

I live verse 15 in Deuteronomy 30 "Now listen! Today I am giving you a choice between life and death, between prosperity and disaster." The real question is ...... why would we choose death over life??????

Here is just one little thought - I wouldn't want to be married to someone that didn't choose me but just had to marry me for some reason. I would never know if he actually loved me or if there was some other reason I was with him.

What are your thoughts??

God is interested in our hearts. He wants to know if our heart is for Him. He allows us the opportunity to grow and learn and experience all of the wonderful things He has for us and not treat us like a puppet that has no say over their lives. Will He help us? Definitely! Does He allow circumstances that will shape and direct us? Absolutely! But the greatest thing He gives us is His love which is patient and kind. It's not envious or boastful or proud. It's never rude or self seeking; not easily angered or keeping record of wrongs. His love doesn't delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. Always protecting, always trusting, always hoping and persevering over us and it never fails. Wit all of this, why wouldn't we choose God? Why wouldn't we choose life?

Wow, yes, I totally agree witih what you both wrote.

It’s an issue of love.

God is love. Not self-seeking. SACRIFICIAL. Doesn’t keep record of wrongs. Always hoping. Always trusting.

And it’s that love that tugs at my heart strings so much that I can’t help but run to Him. Because He loves me so much … His love – He – calls to me, and I respond to Him with love and obedience and place my life at His feet.

He gave me the choice. Then, lovingly He stepped back and waited for me to choose.

A love that releases. Even though there’s a chance it won’t be reciprocated.

Like my love for Dustin. It waited and prayed. And waited some more. But I wanted him to marry me because he loved me. I didn’t want to force that love.

After 8 months of dating, I released him from our relationship. I gave him and our relationship to God.

“If he comes back, I’ll know it’s a love that God meant to be.”

It was hard to wait (thank you, Sarah, for standing beside me – wow, great Val’s lunches and Bible study we enjoyed!).

But when that first flower arrangement arrived to my office at church with a little note on it…

Ahhhh…. Love. True love. Freedom to love.

On this 4th of July, that verse is popping into my head. “Christ has set us free to live a free life” (Galatians 5:1). Or in the words of a song we used to sing, “It was for freedom Christ set us free.”

Freedom brings choice. We’ve been given freedom to be free.

God doesn’t bind. The enemy binds. Hate binds.

God frees. Love frees.

Thank You so much, Lord, for freeing me. For loving me. I give it all back to You. I am Yours. Here is my life. My love.

Great comment Heather. And this so describes what God is wanting from us. I believe He is drawing us to Him again. That love can grow every day to something deeper than what we had in our beginning walk with Him. Wow - you preached Pastor's message on the 5th - Sunday!
